Fantasy Illustration - Aranaea The Spider Queen WIP

Fifth and final assignment for Fantasy Illustration. The scene describes a human/spider hybrid creature. I felt like adding my Werewolf Huntress since it takes place the same series of stories.

Fantasy Illustration - Ghost Hunter WIP

Work in progress of my fourth assignment for my Fantasy Illustration class. Basic scenario: Two men, an aristocratic looking man with a rapier and a brutish thug with a bear trap accosting the Hero (It was written for a tabletop game so the hero can be anyone) in a tavern.

Quick Painting #1

Trying a new exercise. Quick 1 hour paintings from reference to help me build a little of every technique from figure drawing to rendering to color application. This one took a little longer than an hour 'cause I really wanted to get the face looking good. :P

Some hand and foot practice.

Fantasy Illustration - Homework 2 - 2nd Draft

A modified version on the original piece. My teacher requires we follow our source material almost exactly to the letter. SO for my piece the details of the defenses against lycanthropy (cross, flintlock pistol, potions) had to be apparent. The big triple-barreled spike launcher wasn't acceptable, it had to be pistols. SO I re worked the weapons to dual flintlock pistols, that still fire silver stakes, as well as a small leg bandolier with extra stakes. Also added a castle of sorts for the background and a more realistic moon.

Fantasy Illustration - Homework 2 - Draft

Rough visual for my Fantasy Illustration class' next assignment. We now have a little freedom with the subject matter. Our teacher has a collection of stories on his website for us to choose from. We can make anything we want from a book jacket to a movie poster, or we can choose from a wide selection of predetermined scenarios within each story to illustrate. I chose one from a Werewolf role playing game. It mainly detailed defenses against Lycanthropy (The existence as a Werewolf), such as a silver cross, potions, and a gun that fires silver bullets. I took a few liberties (too many in fact) and gave my "werewolf huntress" a massive triple-barreled rifle that fires silver stakes (Just in case she happens upon a vampire), and put a dead werewolf in the foreground with a stake right through its head.

Fantasy Illustration Homework #1

My first assignment for my Fantasy Illustration class. The subject was at least two fantastical creatures having some kind of physical conflict. I chose some kind of Balrog-styled creature with massive claws attacking an alien/snake woman.

Not Quite Dead Yet

Been a while...

Started a new project inspired by League of Legends. On their forums there is a Fan Creations page where players can come up with their own champion concepts. This is a slash art piece I decided to make for one of my own concepts.

The concept page can be found here: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=39777578

Luba - Blood and Bone of the Earth - Final Digital Portfolio Piece

Here's the last piece I did for my Digital Portfolio class. It was a last minute, spur-of-the-moment, bit of inspiration that took shape. I somehow came up with (don't remember how) a creature that was formed from metal and oil. I searched around and found very little artwork of oil creature/elementals.

More VisDev and some Illustration

The first three are character concept sheets for a visual development project I'm doing for my Digital Portfolio class. The assignment for the whole semester is like my previous VisDev class: Choose a story and get tor work. I chose an old favorite of mine, Christopher Stasheff's Her Majesty's Wizard, a fun fantasy tale about a 20th century PhD student who finds himself whisked away to a fantasy world where poetry creates magic, demons are friendly, and dragons get drunk off their flames. I currently have the designs for the two main characters and one supporting character.

The final piece as my final for last semester's Figure Drawing Class: Two figures physically interacting. I chose a wierd situation of two girls skydiving through a storm of anti-aircraft fire.

deviantArt Contest Entry

Here's a piece I did for a fun contest on deviantArt. The parameters were simply to use the provided line art and color it in. More details here: http://rogue-of-the-night.deviantart.com/journal/Colouring-Contest-Entries-roll-in-341771208
